VION announces sale of Winsford packing operation

VION Food UK has today announced the proposal to sell its meat processing operation at Winsford, Cheshire, to Farmers Boy Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wm Morrison Supermarkets plc. Under the agreement, all VION employees at the site will transfer to the new owner.

VION has extensive secondary processing and packing operations across the UK and production at the site will transfer to other VION UK facilities. This will deliver enhanced operational efficiencies, and will ensure that VION’s packing resources are better aligned to current and anticipated market demand. Importantly, Wm Morrison Supermarkets plc is a respected and highly successful company, and the proposed sale will provide for continuity and job security for the Winsford workforce.

It is envisaged that the transfer will be completed on or around 27th March 2012.
