Vion wins Hamel Business Award 2018
Prize for Vion’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts
Boxtel, 19 October 2018 – Last Wednesday, during the Netherlands-Korea Business Gala in Seoul, Vion won the Hamel Business Award 2018. This is an award for companies that make substantial contributions to business and economic relations between Korea and the Netherlands. Vion has been supplying Korea with high quality pork for more than 20 years now. Vion was awarded the prize in particular for its investments in sustainability and animal welfare.
Investments in sustainability and animal welfare
Ruth Emmerink, Deputy Ambassador at the Dutch embassy in South Korea, presented the prize to Maiko van der Meer, Chief Commercial Officer within Vion Pork and Eric de Jong, responsible for sales in South Korea as Country manager. Vion’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy was a key factor in awarding the prize. Vion’s meat was said to be an excellent example of the high quality products supplied to Korea from the Netherlands. On presenting the prize, Ruth Emmerink emphasized Vion’s efforts in making its supply chains more sustainable and investing in animal welfare.
Maiko van der Meer: “Vion is very proud and happy to have won this prize. This is recognition for the good trade relation we have with our Korean partners.” Vion and Korea have a trade relationship for more than 20 years.
Hamel Business Award 2018
The Hamel Business Award is an award for companies that make substantial contributions to business and economic relations between Korea and the Netherlands. The winners of the award are selected by an independent jury, based on business performance, innovations for a sustainable future and contributions to the Netherlands-Korean economic relations.
