Vion Beef cooperates with automation specialist Frontmatec

Date: 02-05-2019

Buchloe, 2 May 2019 – In order to automatically record and evaluate beef carcasses, Vion cooperates with the automation specialist Frontmatec from Denmark. At the Vion site in Crailsheim, the system is already in a successful test phase. At this year’s IFFA, the leading international trade fair for the meat industry in Frankfurt am Main, the innovative capturing and evaluation technique will be presented for the first time and both partners will officially announce their cooperation.

With the decision for the new BCC-3 ™ device, market leader Vion continues to focus on digitization. The system enables beef carcasses to be captured on video from all sides. Subsequently, the carcasses are analyzed and assessed reliably on the basis of an internal database. This allows accurate classification and thus optimal utilization of the carcasses.

Compared to previous methods, Frontmatec’s BCC-3 ™ automatically generates a 3-D image of the cattle halves using state-of-the-art digital measurement techniques. “With this technology, we see new possibilities in sorting and optimal utilization of the bovine cuts in the deboning area”, says Bernd Stange, COO Beef at Vion.
