Vion’s initiatives and measures related to COVID-19

  • In addition to our usual strict hygiene measures, we have always immediately translated and implemented new insights to control the virus, such as hygiene and air control measures on the work floor.
  • Performing a stringent health check at the entrance to our production locations.
  • Preventive testing of our production employees.
  • Encouraging office staff to work from home, if possible.
  • Reducing all kinds of travel.
  • Offering personal protective equipment, such as face masks and hand sanitation.

  • Providing security to our own production staff by continuing to pay salaries when they have to stay at home due to quarantine or after a positive test.
  • Distributing food packages to colleagues in quarantine.
  • Allowing employees in the Netherlands and their housemates to use the test location at different Vion production sites.

  • Donating protective equipment to healthcare workers.
  • Sponsoring meat products for healthcare staff.

  • An important theme for Vion, which has received additional attention during the corona period, is the quality of Vion workers’ accommodation. Vion set up a task force to randomly inspect Vion workers’ housing and take measures where necessary to guarantee them a safe and healthy home environment.

  • It is important to us to give our customers additional support in these difficult times. Our brands SALOMON FoodWorld and FVZ Convenience joined forces to support catering entrepreneurs in times of crisis. They launched the ‘Future Initiative for Gastronomy’ through which they share solutions, knowledge and concrete actions with catering entrepreneurs to overcome financial difficulties due to the lockdowns.
  • During COVID-19, we are committed to continuing to work on establishing reliable supply chains together with our suppliers. As pilot meetings for these projects now occur online instead of in person, Vion provided participants with the necessary equipment (e.g. laptops and cameras) and technical support to continue participating.

We always do this to the highest hygiene standards, with strict personal protection, while observing strict measures. In close contact with our supply chain partners, such as farmers and retailers, but also with government institutions, such as Municipal Health Services and regional authorities, we ensure that our products remain available.
