Varkenshouders
Vion en de varkenshouder versterken elkaar. We vertalen wensen uit de markt naar het boerenerf en betrekken varkenshouders bij Vion’s activiteiten. Samen met onze varkenshouders zorgen we voor kwalitatief hoogwaardige producten: afgestemd op de vraag van de markt en geproduceerd in geborgde ketens. Zo kunnen we consumenten voorzien van kwaliteitsvlees dat voldoet aan de hoogste normen van voedselveiligheid.
In totaal heeft Vion twaalf productielocaties voor varkens. Hiervan zijn er vier in Nederland en acht in Duitsland.
Veehouders
Vion voldoet aan de toenemende vraag naar regionaal vlees door een gedecentraliseerd netwerk van slachtbedrijven die hun dieren voornamelijk uit de regio halen. Onze doelstelling is om dieren in te kopen binnen een straal van maximaal 200 kilometer van de slachterij. Dat is een strategische keuze om de transporttijd van de dieren te minimaliseren.
In totaal heeft de Business Unit Beef elf productielocaties voor runderen. Hiervan zijn er twee in Nederland, acht in Duitsland en één in België gevestigd.

Control and transparency of animal welfare is a key issue in our strategy to create trust in the products and supply chain. We want to take the lead in welfare discussions, and we take responsibility for our role in controlling the welfare status in the supply chain. Our animal welfare strategy consists of several levels of control with regards to animal welfare.

Werkgelegenheid en arbeidsomstandigheden
At present, it is hard to recruit enough suitable production personnel. Vion cooperates closely with third-party labour companies. The regional labour markets in Germany and the Netherlands do not have enough workers. Therefore, the third-party labour workforce and regular workforce consist mainly of employees from eastern and southern European countries.

Traceerbaarheid en productintegriteit
With our traceability and product integrity system, we make a positive impact on society without any negative. With our standards, we pave the way to new state-of-the-art standards within the industry. During 2021, Vion experienced no product integrity non-compliance issues. This has a positive impact when it comes to building trust with the consumer. Trust in food can only be attained when there is a high level of transparency.

Duurzame landbouw
The topic ‘Sustainable farming’ is part of our strengthened sustainability strategy, containing topics and targets which are important for sustainable food production and consumption. We intend to bring transparency and sustainability agendas together and thus offer our stakeholders and especially the consumer the possibility of making an informed choice. This means consumers will be able to choose using information not only based on animal welfare, but also on sustainability. We will provide consumers with information on topics such as the carbon footprint on food items like pork, beef, and meat alternatives.

Fair prices are important for stability in the supply chain and therefore ultimately important for all supply chain partners. As a central player in the supply chains, we have an influence on their structural development. We also work to support a fair distribution of value in the production supply chain and to steer volatility.
